Please note that nothing belongs to me besides the spelling and grammar mistakes. If I wrote something wrong or put the sentence in disorder bear with it… I am not a native English speaker… blahhhhhh

Gotham was rarely sunny. The sky was usually clouded and the city rather windy or cooler than an average Metropolis day. Somehow, she figured, the daily weather had something to do with the citizen’s attitude. Were a citizen of Metropolis would grin at you and redirect you to the better coffee shop around, a citizen of Gotham would sneer at you before leaving you in the cold to venture for your self.

It was that kind of attitude that Chloe had been exposed to lately more often than not, and it was starting to take its toll on her too. She didn’t wake up thinking ‘what a great day for a story, the world is my play ground’, now it was more of ‘god, I hope there’s coffee or something stronger in the newsroom’. She was sure that her ‘depressive state of mind’ had to do with the lack of sun, friendliness as well as the absence of serious articles she was allowed to write.

The city was practically stuffed with great stories to write about. The mob, the corrupt police, the darkness as well as the decaying morals and she was stuck writing newbie stuff. That meant things like restaurant openings, museums exhibition and galas… not that she minded the latter one. They always had great food and drinks on these kind occasions. The ones were Gotham’s richest took their jewellery for a little show and tell. But really

So when her first ‘real’ story came in, and she had not only been assigned but left in charge of it, her determination kicked in and she swore that nothing could get in between her and that story.

Too bad the guy trying to enter HER cab at the moment didn’t know that. Some good looking broad-shouldered hunk was trying to take the cab she had been wasting five minutes of her precious time only waiting for a taxi driver to look her was and stop the car… was he serious?

So with an élan that she thought she had long forgotten to take with her from Smallville or Metropolis, she jumped into the opened door of the cab, before that cab-stealing-hunk could take it away from her.

Aha! She thought. Well, until the guy entered her cab as well and looked at her with a look that reminded her very much of one her father would send her when ever he caught her stealing cookies before dinner was ready.  Darn!

“I believe that is my ride you’re trying to steal.” He said with a boyish handsome grin after both of them not looking away or blinking for some time. Now that she had a good look at him, she actually recognized him from some of his posters. Double darn!

“Well, technically it was mine before it was yours. I waited longer and you just happened to stand at the exact same spot that MY cab was stopping at.” She replied almost instantly and with as much sickening sweet sugar she could muster, adding one of her fake ‘1 giga-watt’ smile.

“Right” he said while rubbing his neck with the left hand while fingering a coin with his right. “Look, I have a very important trail today. So, why don’t I just pay for the cab, the driver sends me off first, and then he gets you to where ever you need to be. Where do you need to go to away way?”

That sounded rather reasonable argued Chloe internally with herself. Too bad that she really wasn’t into reasonable today. She had finally gotten a story that wasn’t about some new restaurant opening or what ever… and she had an appointment of her newer sources that would probably scram as soon as she thought of coming to late, which would be in about seven minutes… so she clearly had first rights in her mind. Besides she knew for a fact that she would be heading in the opposite direction. One of them would have to be late.

“Sure, but why not reverse the driving order. This is after all my cab to begin with.”

The man before her raised one eye brow and considered her. Then a sudden smirk followed the gesture and he held the coin that had been toyed with up to her face. “Why don’t we flip the coin… that way chance will choose the course of action from here.”

Nice try, Mister! Who was the guy kidding? She wasn’t Chloe Sullivan for nothing. Of course she knew that the guy in front of her was no other than Harvey Dent. And she knew that he was the cities D.A. She also knew that Gotham’s finest had taken to call him Harvey ‘two face’ Dent, and while some other reporters didn’t know why, she knew.

Oh, she was sooo good today. She was going to meet up with her source today, then write up her story and finally gain the respect of her fellow reporters at the Gazette.

But first things first… she thought while giving him what she hoped was her best innocent smile.

“Sure,” she said and then went in for the kill before he could utter another reply “Heads!”

The man looked at her for a moment in utter shock, until the cab driver finally turned around and muttered something that sounded like “Where to first?”.

Well, that is a first, thought Harvey as he watched his taxi acquaintance exit the cab after ten minutes of driving together. He would be late, but that didn’t matter. He had a feeling that everything would go just fine today.

He relaxed into his seat after giving the driver his destination and looked out of the window. The woman stood to the side of the cab and whinking at him, then turned and entered one of the shadier side streets of Gotham even at broad daylight. Somehow he had a feeling that she knew exactly what she was doing when she had called out ‘heads’.

-o-o-o-o-

Hi, I decided that I would write a little something explaining why in Batman, tdk we saw him come in late to his trail… harharhar. I was bored and the other fic is just not coming… maybe I can now concentrate on finishing the other one off.
