Crashing pyjama parties…
Chapter 1: saying the words…
They were having a rather good time. She didn’t think that she would. Truth was that when Lana had stood knocking at her door, asking for some girl time, all she had really wanted to do was close the door on her face. Instead Chloe had opened the door and let her in.
So now they were sitting in her room, playing backgammon and eating candy and popcorn. They were giggling and gossiping at the same time. It was all so nice that Chloe could almost forget all the hardship she had to endure because she was always looked over because of ‘little miss perfect’, who was currently rolling her dice and playing her move.
Almost was the key word. Because all this sitting together and playing backgammon still didn’t change the fact that
Ok, so she was a little bitter. But she believed that absolutely anyone in her situation would be as bitter as her. But not everyone would use a game of backgammon to get back at the person sitting in front of them. So instead of focusing everything Chloe had on wining the game, she focused all her pent up frustration on hitting Lana’s playing-stones and killing all her moves.
At first Lana thought that Chloe was only joking… then she thought that maybe that was how Chloe liked to play the game. A little harsh and mean. But now Lana was frowning and annoyed that she couldn’t play a move without Chloe killing it off. Lana knew that it was childish to get so worked up over a game, but the truth was that she had the feeling that Chloe was deliberately playing so unfair to hurt her. And that was so unfair and mean. So in a fit of childish annoyance she uttered the first thought that entered her mind.
“Chloe you are playing so unfair. I wish the goblin king would take you away. Right now!” she exclaimed by throwing the whole game to the ground. Chloe was shocked into silence by Lana’s sudden outburst. With wide eyes she could only look at her so called ‘rival in love’ as she exited the room in a hurry and started crying. After being left alone, Chloe’s gaze fell to the discarded game board and she felt guilty and childish on her part.
She shouldn’t have acted this way, she knew. Lana had actually tried to re-befriend her and Chloe had taken this gesture of true sincerity and thrown it back into her face. Knowing that Lana was probably now going to run to Clark and cry her heart out there was also not helping her to justify her behaviour earlier.
She placed her face into her hands and hoped that something would swallow her, or that she could turn back time to correct her silly and childish behaviour. She sighed loudly and shook her head. Her head was still bowed when she noticed a draft in her room, and movement from the corner of her eyes. When she lifted her head nothing seemed out of the normal. Her room was still empty of Lana, and the board game still discarded on the ground.
She noticed that her window was suddenly opened, even though it had been close the whole night. To her dismay the lights went out just after she got up to shut the window. Forgetting all about her window - because she heard a noise come from the direction of her bed - she started moving in that direction. She took hesitant steps, and stopped when she felt another draft behind her. Turning around she found again nothing there. The noise had stopped, and the draft was gone, but the lights were still out. So she decided to check the other rooms, only she never got to her room door. There was suddenly thunder outside, and she had to wonder where that came from, because the weather channel did say that they had clear sky today. The windows were opening and closing and suddenly a large white owl flew through the opened window and landed on her chair. She stared at it and then coming out of her stupor started to move her hand in a ‘shooing’ motion.
“Shoo… get out you big ugly bird!” she said while trying to get not too close to the animal, because she was actually scared that the winged rat trap would attack her. The white owl only looked at her, not at all fazed by her attempt to get rid of it.
That was when she heard laughter coming from behind her. She turned instantly and saw that her bed and in front of her door a little army of ugly little things were lying or sitting. Afraid that her mind was playing tricks with her, or that she was dreaming this all up, she took a step back and collided with something very real.
Oh…darn…she thought as she slowly turned while hearing more laughter coming from the ugly ‘things’ on her bed. Where is
Sometime I heard someone say something about ‘leaving when the audience wants more’. Therefore I stop at this cliff-hanger…
So, this is the first chapter of a little crossover series about Smallville and the Labyrinth. I loved the movie that much that I got my friend to buy it for me on DVD. So I have it at home, and I’ll have to watch some parts again, because Jareth (the goblin king) is a very peculiar character…
By the way, the title has nothing or little to do with the fic… I just couldn’t think of a good title… so instead of going with ‘untitled’ or ‘no title’ I wrote some things up and this one won out…
Please leave a comment! I always feel so much more encouraged after someone does…
